Acts 6 is a ACNC registered charity arm of the Tongan Evangelical Church. In the Book of Acts chapter 6 we find that the apostles selected some among them to care for the distribution of food in order to also allow for adequate teaching of the word. At Tongan Evangelical we seek to follow this tradition of in-depth bible teaching as well as caring for the poor amongst us.
As a church we understand the need for people living here in Sydney that the demand is very high on work life and family life. For those that dont have an steady income we help those get the bare necesities through Foodbank.
As a new church we understand our resources are limited (both human and financial) so we have thought to focus our attention on Pacific Islanders both in Sydney as well as specific work with the Ofa ki he Masiva Charity in Tonga.
Acts 6 mission and vision is to demonstrate our Christian values and convictions in breaking the cycle of poverty and improving community access to public services for Tongans and Pacific Islanders.
We have recently just sent aid and funding for distribution in Tonga in response to the Tongan Disaster in January 2022. We were only able to do this through work with our partners the Anglican Relief and Development Fund Australia and the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches. We are grateful always for the connections the Lord has given us as a response to prayer.
